Go Seahawks!

Well, there's a pre season game on tonight, so I thought I'd dress the boys up in their Seahawks outfits. Jaden did a really good job at holding his baby brother (and being a ham for the camera, lol)!

Fun at the Fair

We went to our local fair on Saturday. It was Chris, Jaden and me. Jaden had a BLAST! He loves his wagon, and I just knew it would be a good idea to take IT instead of the stroller. Boy was I right! Jaden stayed in his wagon the entire time we were there (which was about 5 hours). Chris took Jaden and played some games (the ones you get stuffed animals, and stuff), and I got to ride some rides with his friend's girlfriend (they come over often, so it's not like I didn't know her).

Jaden got to pet a baby goat.

He also got to "drive" a gigantic John Deere tractor.

Yep, he buckled himself in. It's his new favorite thing to do - buckle anything he sees that can be buckled.

Here are Jaden and me waiting in line to get on a kid ride.

Jaden loved the ride! He thought he was in a car and racing (the wheel you spin in the middle). He had fun helping spin the wheel (driving).

Jaden, the big brother

Jaden just absolutely loves his baby brother. Everywhere Carson is Jaden has to be. Jaden is constantly giving Carson kisses and rocking Carson's bouncy chair. We have a binky for Carson, but we really don't use it. If Jaden sees the binky he will try to put it in Carson's mouth. Jaden also brings me Carson's blanky when I'm feeding him. Jaden is such a big helper! Jaden may be a little rough, but he doesn't know any better. He really does try!

Jaden will sleep anywhere? Since when?!

Last night we gave Jaden a bath, like usual, then a little after 8:30pm we put him to bed...like usual. About 20 minutes later we hear him open the door. He never came out into the living room, so I took a peek down the hall. I didn't see him anywhere, so we figured he went back to bed. About 9:10pm Chris was in the kitchen getting me some water and making himself some popcorn. On his way out of the kitchen he realized he saw something in the hall. He looked over, and ran to get the camera. Neither of us heard Jaden walking down the hall, but he got some stuff off his bed and fell asleep in the hall. What a funny guy!

Jaden did this a couple hours after he woke up from his nap, too. Brought out everything he sleeps with - Mr. Bear, his lion, his blanky, and his pillow. (The first picture is a bit blurry, because the camera decided to focus on the blue ball.) Jaden just cracks me up sometimes!

Carson Avery Charles

Where to start! I was scheduled for an induction at 7am on Wed, July 30. I called L&D at 5:30am Wed morning to see if they had room for me (that's what I was told to do). Turns out everyone and their dog went into labor Tuesday night, so they were way over crowded. They told me they had people recovering in the pediatrics ward, and people laboring in the exam rooms, and to call back on Thursday. Well, I called back later Wed, and nope, still no room.

I called L&D at 8am Thursday morning, and still no room. I called later Thursday to see if any openings had come up, and they still had no room, as more people came in because they were in labor. The lead nurse told me that I would definitely get in on Friday.

Friday morning rolls around, and I call L&D at 7am. They tell me no openings right then, but there would be around 5 people leaving later that day, and to call back later. I did just that, and the lead nurse said they had been having one hell of a Friday, and that she would call me back before she went home at 7pm. She never called, so I called back at 7pm. The nurse I talked to this time told me, "absolutely no way." I immediately lost it. I started balling my head off. The nurse tried to calm me down, but there was no way that was happening.

Finally, when I got off the phone, I decided to do a load of laundry then go on a walk to cool my jets. A few minutes after 9pm I was about to take an Ambien so I might be able to get some sleep. Right as I'm about to get up off the couch my phone rings. I look at the number and see that it's the Birth Center, and got really excited (but was thinking, at the same time, that I was getting excited for nothing). The nurse said there were 2 moms who asked to be discharged because the beds were uncomfortable, rofl. Chris and I hurried on to the hospital before another mom went into labor and I didn't get a room. The Dr came in to check me, and couldn't feel Carson's head, so he got the u/s machine. Turns out Carson wasn't as far down as I thought, lol...but yes, his head was down where it should've been. They started the pitocin at 11:15pm. By the 3rd contraction I was pretty much begging for an epi, rofl. Got that, and all was good...until I had help turning over to my left side. I started to feel the contractions again, but just on my right side. The anesthesiologist came in and told me I needed to be on my right side, and gave me a mix of Lanicane and Epinephrine. After about 25 mins, I finally felt no more pain.

Sometime before the anesthesiologist came in I thought my water had broken. I couldn't feel anything, so I called the nurse. She checked, and sure enough that's exactly what happened! The Dr had to break it when I was induced with Jaden, so this was quite the weird feeling for me. I swear I heard it echo through my tummy. It was so weird!

I never could get comfortable on my right side, so I turned to my left side again (again with help, as my legs were completely numb). A few contractions later I started feeling them again, so turned to my right side. The pain never subsided. The nurse decided to check me, and said, "Well that's why! You're all ready to push!" I started pushing at 7:20am, and he was born at 7:42am. The Dr made it in the room for the very last set of 3 pushes, lol. I felt ALL the pressure, and I didn't like that one bit. Boy was I in pain. I didn't experience that with Jaden at ALL.

All he wanted to do in the hospital was sleep. I had to make him eat every 6 hours. Now that we're home all he wants to do is eat! He nursed for 2.5 hours straight before I cut him off, lol. He was still hungry, so I made him 2 oz of formula. He didn't drink all of the 2 oz (knew he wouldn't), but I finally made him happy.

So, here's a few pictures of Carson! Born Aug 2, at 7:42am. He weighed in at 8lbs 1oz, and was 21.5 inches tall. Big, tall boy! (No, these aren't all the pictures. There are more!)

I love this last picture, because Jaden said his first actual sentence (not just a phrase). He was giving Carson his binky, and he said, "Here you go, baby!" So precious!
