I love watching him sleep

Well, I love watching both my boys sleep, but I didn't want to bug Jaden today, because I don't even think he was asleep yet when I put Carson down. Carson rarely falls asleep nursing these days (but he still "has" to nurse to go to sleep), so I cherish those moments. I should get rid of the bear on his pillow, because he has never liked it. He's never taken to any type of lovey we've given him. Chris's mom got him a doggy for Christmas, which is a little different than the other lovies we've tried, and he didn't like it then, either. I just got it out the other day, because we left Jaden's blanky and bear at Chris's parents' house. We got out all the lovies, and Jaden took them all to bed with him that night. When Jaden woke up the next morning he brought all the lovies out with him. Carson immediately took to the doggy. I've been giving it to him the three times he nurses to go to sleep (morning nap, afternoon nap, and bed time). He has been sleeping with it ever since, and I think it's just precious. =)

The boys and me

I'm not usually one to post pictures of myself, especially without makeup on, but the boys looked really cute in this picture. They were both sitting on my lap, so I had Chris snap a couple pictures. Jaden actually said, "Say cheese!" and smiled! So here we are. Don't mind me, lol.

Most of a day in the life of an only child

Jaden spent the night at Chris's parents' house Saturday night, so Carson had Mommy, Daddy, and the house and toys all to himself from dinner Saturday through after his second nap (waking up around 4:00 p.m.) Sunday. Another hobby of his is to get in the cabinets under the bathroom sink and playing with my stuff. I was about to get in the shower, and I couldn't resist taking his picture.

While I was in the shower Chris made Carson lunch. He also gave Carson his first blackberry. He absolutely LOVED it!

After Carson woke up from his second nap we headed out to Chris's parents' house for dinner and to bring Jaden home. Even though the pool was a cold, 70 degrees, Jaden wanted in anyway. Well, because Jaden was in the pool, Carson wanted in the pool. Luckily he only wanted to sit and dangle his feet in to splash. Nobody wanted in the pool with Jaden, so we got him out and turned on a sprinkler. Jaden was a bit skiddish, and he kept moving the sprinkler around. Finally we got him to stop so I could take a few pictures. Carson was having fun in the sprinkler, but alas, Jaden started moving it again after I got my few pictures.

Carson loved every minute of having Mommy, Daddy, the house and toys all to himself. Now that he's walking, I think he wishes he were an only child more often. Jaden still loves his baby brother, but even though Carson's been able to get into Jaden's toys, and stuff, for awhile, now that Carson's walking Jaden is all sorts of stingy and taking things away from Carson. Such is the life of siblings.

Jaden's garbage can

I had built a square box out of these numbers, and Jaden called it a garbage can. I had taken it apart, put all the numbers back together, and was feeding Carson so he'd go down for his nap when Jaden asked me to build another garbage can. Since I was busy nursing Carson, Chris built a 2 story garbage can. Jaden "threw away" all the numbers and proceeded to "climb" through the hole where the number 8 was. I think he got stuck, but I don't remember. If he did, he didn't seem to mind at all, lol.

Carson's favorite past time

He gets up onto this table and looks out the blinds. Gives me a heart attack each time!

Videos of Carson

It's been awhile since I posted videos, because the software for our camcorder no longer wishes to work on my computer. I've had to take videos with my camera instead. Here are the 7 videos I took yesterday. Enjoy!

Comfy?

This is how Carson fell asleep for a nap yesterday. I put the blanket on him and then took the picture. He slept like that for his entire nap, too!

Yogurt

So I got brave today and let Carson feed himself his yogurt. He feeds himself for every meal, but this was my first time letting him try yogurt. He did alright. At first he put it up to his mouth like he was going to drink it (and he tried to drink it). By the time I got the camera he had stopped and never did it again. If you look closely, though, you can see the ring around his mouth and nose where he brought it to his mouth. He did stick the correct end of the spoon in the yogurt and tried to eat it, but he found that sticking the handle of the spoon, and sucking it off the handle, was much easier. I didn't get a picture of that, though.

12 month check up

Carson had his 12 month check up today, and the doctor said he was perfect! He is 30.5 inches long, 20.7 lbs, and his head circumference is 47cm (18.5 inches). He is tall and has lots of brains. =)

Here he is at 11 months

And here he is on his birthday.

Here he is on the day we brought him home (1 day old). He was 8 lbs 1.4oz and 21.5 inches long at birth (although I think because of the way his head was shaped after being born they nurses measured his length wrong, as it was still oblong from being born). How time does fly, and how fast they grow.

Carson's 1st birthday and party

Today was Carson's 1st birthday! I cannot believe how fast this year has flown by! He has learned to hold his head, roll over, sit, scoot, army crawl, crawl, pull up on things, stand by himself, and just before his birthday he started taking steps here and there! He still nurses like a champ, and he would rather eat with utensils than his hands.

It was SO hot outside. The splash pool was a great hit (even for the grownups)!

Carson was loving eating watermelon like a big boy.

Time for cake and ice cream, and Carson wasn't happy that I went to the front yard to get Daddy.

I was a bit upset that WalMart didn't completely do the colors I asked for. Where the dark green icing is was supposed to be light/baby green.

Much happier!

Again, gave him a spoon and he was good to go.

Jaden being a goof.

Carson absolutely loved this present. After opening it he didn't care about opening any other present (this was only the second present we opened).

He kept going back to this present, lol.

Here is a video of him with his favorite present. You can hear him squeal when it gets taken away or he pushes it over.
