Memorial Day
So, we went to my Uncle Gary's house for a Memorial Day BBQ. Once Jaden woke up all the way (he fell asleep in the car on the way to the house, and he woke up when we stopped the car) he had a lot of fun. Jaden loves water, so once the slip-n-slide was ready to go we got him into his swim trunks. He wasn't sure of the water at first, because it was cold, but he soon realized he didn't care; it was water!

Wii Fit
We got Wii Fit when it came out on Wednesday. The game is awesome. If you're lazy, like I am, you would think this game rocks, too. I am finally exercising, which is something I've needed to do for a long time now. I mostly do balance games and some aerobics. I think I'll wait to do yoga (most of them, anyway) and strength training until after the baby is born, though. Jaden really likes the game, too. He's always trying to step onto the balance board with me. Actually, he wants to be on the balance board whether I'm on it or not. Jaden also tries to mimic what we're doing. If Chris is doing the hoola-hoops game Jaden is moving his hips, too. It's too cute. (I didn't get any pictures of that, though.) These are pictures from the last couple days (not including today).

Ivy
So, the fence between our backyard and the old man next door's back yard is all ivy. When we bought the house the ivy wasn't that bad - we could actually shut the gate to the backyard. Well, in the course of two years the ivy has grown astronomically! We haven't been able to shut the gate for about a year and a half. The old man next door has been cutting some of the ivy back on his side of the fence (which is actually just chicken wire to make the ivy grow up). While Chris was mowing the lawn today he noticed that there weren't any bees swarming the ivy, so he took that opportunity to cut back what ivy he could cut back. This was the end result. It may look kind of retarded, but we gained about 3 feet of backyard with all Chris cut back. He ALMOST got the gate all the way shut, too!
Chris also had a little helper while cutting back the ivy. Jaden was helping by picking the leaves off the ivy.

Smart little climber
Jaden didn't wake up until 10am today (yay!), but when I figured it was time for a nap I asked Jaden if he needed a nap. He answered by nodding his head, so I asked him to go get Mr. Bear. He then proceeded to do so (or so I thought). When I realized Mr. Bear was in the dryer (his bed, pajamas, and himself were soaked, because he slept in so late) I called for Jaden. I could hear him in the nursery, but he didn't come out to the living room when I called. I called for him again, and nothing. It sounded like he was playing with the diaper pail (he likes to stick things in it and flip the lid), so I went to see what he was doing. This is what I saw when I walked in. It took me a minute to find the camera, so the best picture was gone by the time I got back into the room. Apparently he climbed the changing table to get to his sun screen. He got the sun screen, laid down on his belly, and got the cap off. When I got back into the room with the camera he was about to sit up. He then turned the can upside down and tried to put some on his legs. I guess I'm going to have to put the sun screen somewhere else! (By the way, he did end up getting some on his legs.)

Movies
Jaden has discovered he likes movies. A few weeks ago Jaden's favorite word became "car." Every time he saw a car (or truck, or anything of the sort) he would get really excited and practically scream "CAR!" He now says "a car!" Well, I thought that if he liked cars that much I'd put in the movie, "Cars" and see what he did. He LOVES the movie. He now also loves "Bee Movie." He will let you know which movie he wants to watch. He'll either say "a bee," "bees," "car," or "a car." You ask him where one is (like the movie case) and he will get it for you and say the name. He says about 10-15 words now (not everyone would be able to tell what he's saying, but we do). He's going to be talking before we know it!
Anyway, this is a picture I took when I started "Cars." (Mind you it was right after he sat on the couch with me and watched all of "Bee Movie.")

Jaden's pool
It got up into the 90s yesterday, so I decided to blow up Jaden's new pool so he could cool off. Jaden just didn't want to sit down (or really even walk away from the edge), so Chris helped me sit him down. After Jaden was sitting down there was no getting him out of the pool without a fight. He is such a little fish! I can't wait until Chris's parents open their pool up. Jaden will never want to leave, lol. (And I can fit into an underground pool, unlike Jaden's little blow up pool.)

A walk in the park leads to playing in the river!
My friend, Lisa, and I went to Howard Amon Park today with our kids. We walked the path along the river for awhile then turned back to get back to the park. We ended up going down to the water so we could cool off (it was about 85 degrees at the time, with pretty much no breeze). The kids loved it, and they didn't want to get out once it was time to get out. Kayley (the one in pink) was wet from neck to toe, and Jaden was just about there, too. Jaden decided he wanted to copy Kayley by getting wetter.

Dirt
I don't know what it is that attracts kids to dirt, but it's definitely something. I was babysitting a friend's two girls today, and the 3-year-old and Jaden wanted to play in the dirt. Kayley (the 3-year-old) used a shovel, and Jaden, being a boy, mostly played with his hands. Ellie (she's 4 days younger than Jaden) didn't really want anything to do with the dirt, but I did manage to snap a couple pictures with her in them. Jaden was REALLY dirty, and of course he didn't care one bit! He's such a boy, lol!
